OUR PROGRAMS
Setting Up for Educational Success
Little Leaders Academy services children six weeks to five years old. To give each child the best care, we have divided our programs into 6 classes: Garden, Farm, Forest, Jungle, Desert, and Ocean. Children learn and grow at different paces, so we determine a child's readiness to move up to the next class by milestones as well as age.
Each student will have milestones evaluated throughout the year, and a copy of the evaluation will be given to the parents once it has been completed. If at any time you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s development or educational growth, please reach out to his/her teacher and we will discuss ways to support your child’s more individual needs.
Below is a list of educational goals broken down by room:
Kindermusik!
We are so excited to have recently added a music curriculum to our program twice a week! Students in our Jungle, Desert, and Ocean rooms participate in Kindermusik on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and it has been such a joy to watch their excitement as they engage with one another in music and movement.
FROM OUR MUSIC TEACHER, MRS. COLE:
“I have had the opportunity to start the music program here at the daycare this year. We are using the Kindermusik curriculum. For those who don’t know what Kindermusik is, it’s a research based music program that combines music and movement to engage and promote learning in children. I’ve said many times that my classes are like PE and music combined in one. The children are constantly up on their feet engaging with the music and their classmates. According to the Kindermusik research, “The combination of music and movement give the brain a complete workout, and research tells us the earlier we put all of our lobes to work at once the better. Kindermusik provides joyful, engaging activities to promote school readiness, lifelong learners, and a more confident kinder generation.” It also uses visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements for a multi-sensory approach. One thing I love about this program is that for every activity in the curriculum it tells you what the benefits are for the children. For example, in 1 lesson a child may be developing gross motor skills, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, balance & coordination, attentive listening skills, pretend play skills, memory & recall skills, auditory discrimination, eye-hand coordination, etc. Along with some musical learning such as developing a steady beat, developing singing skills, instrument awareness, etc. It really is an all encompassing program which is why I have been SO excited to bring it to LLA this year.”
In addition to our Kindermusik curriculum, the children also work on songs that they perform during various times of the year. Our students put on a small Christmas program during the month of December, as well as an End of Year program where they will also receive awards from their teachers.
On occasion, we will sometimes have our children perform at a church service during the special music time. This attendance is not mandatory, but encouraged as it is such a sweet time to put their songs on display for the church, and we will typically hold a fundraiser for the music program along with it.
