“Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.”
It has been the mission of Faith Baptist Church to fill at least 200 boxes to send to these children each year. As a ministry of FBC, Little Leaders Academy would love to add to that goal by asking for 15 more boxes to be filled from families within our daycare!
Each year, there is a shortage of boxes donated to the 2-4 years age range. As a daycare and preschool ministry serving this very age group, we are asking that you consider buying for these little ones as a way to ensure that no one is left out. If you prefer to donate to an older child, please visit the Samaritan’s Purse website for box filler ideas.
Start with a quality “wow” item such as a stuffed animal, soccer ball with pump, or clothing outfit that will capture the child’s attention the instant he or she opens the box. See our gift suggestions listed below for other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to fill the shoebox.
Candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; scary or war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.
All shoe boxes need to be filled and returned to Little Leaders Academy no later than Thursday, November 9th to ensure the global distribution to these children by Christmas.
